Philosophical Counseling

Inevitably, life will leave us with questions. Fortunately, we do not have to wrestle with these questions on our own. Primarily, philosophical counseling aims to strengthen mental well-being, viewing the person as more than a list of symptoms or behaviors, but as a whole person, capable of self-compassion and in need of understanding. A journey toward meaning, clarity, discovery, and purpose can begin simply by taking a deeper look and with fresh eyes at our circumstances. Philosophical counseling does not seek to provide answers, but, instead, offers the right questions, awakening a sense of self-awareness, and encouraging growth and healing.

"Vain is the word of a philosopher which does not heal any suffering of man. For just as there is no profit in medicine if it does not expel the diseases of the body, so there is no profit in philosophy either, if it does not expel the suffering of the mind."

-Epicurus

Public Advocacy, Education, and Speaking

Emily leads with the philosophy that every time someone speaks, microphone or not, is an opportunity to bring light and grace into a room. She has been honored to have such opportunities with a variety of audiences for over 15 years, delivering keynotes with passion, presentations with a blend of scientific authority and the human experience, as well as inspirational talks that seek to respect the journey of each individual regardless of background, age, or expertise.
